| Imaging industry faces billions in cuts |
In a tale with more plot turns than a Stephen King novel, the House
narrowly approved the Senate version of the 2006 Federal budget on
February 1, slamming the imaging industry with payment reductions that
the Congressional Budget Office estimates will amount to $2.8 billion
over 5 years, but the American College of Radiology (ACR) says will
amount to more like $6 billion over 5 years. As of this posting,
however, it appeared that a technicality could force the House into a revote on the bill, giving Democrats a last-ditch opportunity to stop
the bill and radiologists another shot at averting the cuts....
